About

I’ve been researching my family history since early 2011, inspired by the coming birth of my second daughter. I wanted to  have something to share with my girls of our family when they get older. I’m sure there was something of pregnancy madness involved, but I’ve been doing it off and on since. I am learning a lot about genealogical methods and research as I go.

This is a log of my research and journey. I also will be sharing as much of my information as I can. I generally don’t share anything from my great-grandparents or newer for privacy reasons. I try to be as thorough and accurate as I can in my information, and verify using original documents. Many of the information I have found has been online with images of original documents.

Please feel free to contact me at sinister AT greenkri DOT  com. I will be glad to discuss my findings, or yours if you have information you would like to share. Just keep in mind I’m a stay at home Mom for 2, so my time is sometimes limited.

Please use my information in your own genealogical research, but don’t forget to give credit where credit is due. Also, don’t just take my word for it! I make mistakes too.

  1. Hi Kristin, I hope this finds you well. If you could only imagine how happy I am finding your blog. I’ve also been researching my family history around September 2011. Early in my research I hit a few speed bumps here and made some detours there, which at length, got me utterly derailed; torn from the very fabric of reality (only later did I realize that this was necessary – for only then shall another form of reality reveal itself). At any rate, after a year , my journey led me back to where I started.

Here’s how my journey led me to your blog: Genealogy -> Internet Archives -> indexing -> computer programming -> blogging -> WordPress -> coding -> LEGO -> Project Gutenberg -> Librivox -> Count of Monte Cristo -> http://greenkri.com

  2. Kristin I think your maiden name is Luoma – a name we share. My family is from Ironwood, Mi – but originally from South Ostrobothnia -Ylistaro. My Great grandfather’s brothers were named Aro and I understand settled in New Hampshire. I am just starting to look around for information on the family. I have a cousin with the parish records from Finland and hope to learn a bit more him this summer. I found you through the Internet Archive – one of the first hits for “Luoma”. I have a cousin, by the way, with your maiden name so I was even more intrigued. I am not sure that I have a question as much as I just wanted to say hello! You do have a lovely reading voice – and it seems you are a woman of many interests!
